The Rochester Selectboard’s Sept. 25 meeting began with the board voting to apply to renew the town’s village designation with the Vermont Agency of Housing and Community Development.

Following up on the ongoing Bingo Road/Pine Gap Road issue, which has been discussed at the last several meetings, the board set the date for the site visit to Pine Gap Road for Monday, Oct. 30 at 4 p.m., followed by a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. at the town office.

Road foreman Dan Gendron reported that a stone bridge on Breakneck Road, off of Jerusalem Hill Road, needed re-decking. He also noted that someone had been “borrowing” gravel from the town gravel pile behind the fire station, which is not for public use—it’s for the town road crew’s use only. The new truck should be delivered within a month.

Free recycling for Rochester residents will now be on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 8-11 a.m. at the town office parking lot. The new hauler will also accept household trash for a per-bag fee. For more information, call Abel Waste Management at 802-672-3569.

Anni Mackay was appointed as the town’s representative to the Two Rivers–Ottauquechee Regional Commission.

The board spent the remainder of the meeting in executive session.

The next regular meeting of the Rochester Selectboard will Monday, Oct. 9 at 6:15 p.m. at the town office.
