Plein Air Painting Festival Opens Sept. 30 at VINS

The Vermont Institute of Natural Science in Quechee will host its third annual en Plein Air Painting Festival from September 30-October 6 at the VINS Nature Center in Quechee.

Artists will paint throughout the week, with the event culminating in an exclusive exhibition and art sale October 7-14. Artists will exhibit works produced during the festival, as well as those created prior to that event.

On Saturday, Sept. 30, there will be an opening celebration for participating artists, kicking off VINS’ 45th anniversary.

Join artists from all over the country as they capture the beauty of the Ottauquechee and Connecticut River watersheds. Artists’ paintings are judged and awarded based on different categories. The awarded artists are able to combine their passion for introspective creation with the challenge of competing for a grand prize.

The festival is hosted in collaboration with ArtisTree in South Pomfret, Sculpturefest in Woodstock, and the Marsh Billings Rockefeller National Historical Park, also in Woodstock.

Registration is currently open. Youth registration (17 and younger) fee is free; however, entrants are required to complete and mail in a registration form. For more information and registration for the competition, visit www.pleinairvinsvt.org.
