Vermont Genealogy Open House Sept. 9

Communities / Sep. 7, 2017 9:06am EDT

The Vermont Genealogy Library will host an open house on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at its building on Hegeman Ave. at Fort Ethan Allen in Colchester, across from the State Police.

Everyone is invited to come to this free event for 30-minute demonstrations on Family Tree Maker and RootsMagic vs. LegacyFamilyTree, tips and tricks for Ancestry.com and FindMyPast, as well as presentations on DNA Tests—which test to choose, which company, and how to use the results.

Volunteers will be on hand to give tours of the library, book, and microfilm rooms with their many resources. There will be many genealogy books for sale and free refreshments.

The Vermont Genealogy Library is also open for research on Tuesdays from 3-9:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. For more information, visit www.vtgenlib.org/ or call 802-310-9285.
