For the 49th consecutive year, the Tunbridge Church invites people to begin World’s Fair Sunday with music and worship at a special come-as-you-are service.

This year, “God Loves Music” is the theme, and according to conductor Judie Lewis, “there will be lots of music—all kinds of music.”

This informal service begins at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17 at the church on Route 110 above the fairgrounds. Musical styles will range from raucous to meditative and include modern and old hymns, spirituals, blues, and classical music. There will be plenty of opportunity for participation, either singing along, clapping, or just enjoying. There will be a special participation song for children.

This annual event draws singers and musicians from around the area. This year, the singers will be accompanied by a group of well-known professional musicians, including Timothy James Howe, lead guitar; Norm Labrecque, rhythm guitar; David Indenbaum, bass; Bob Sparadeo, drums; and Dale Post, piano.

Among the songs the chorus will offer are “I Could Sing of Your Love Forever,” with soloists Eve- Lynne Ermer and Ben Wolfe; “Good Good Father,” with soloist Isabella Amodeo; “Ten Thousand Reasons,” with soloists Dawna Neron and Olivia Swayze; and “I Gotta Robe,” with soloist Larry Owen.

In addition, Scott Paulson, Barbara Smith, Rich Meijer, and Pete Meijer are promising some foot-stomping, hand-clapping music. Maria Lamson and Nan Frost will do Vaughn Williams’ “Little Lamb.” Connie Button and Timothy James Howe are planning a rendition of “My Place in the Sun.” Nan Frost and Randy Hough will offer some jigs and reels, and Priscilla Farnham will sing a spiritual, “’Scandalize’ My Name.”

Rounding out the service, Elaine Howe, Felicity Swayze, Joshua Amodeo, and Janet Zug will read short Bible verses and poems celebrating song and dance. The Rev. David Wolfe will offer a benediction.
