Community Flower Show Saturday At Harvest Fair

Communities / Sep. 7, 2017 9:05am EDT

The Flower Committee of the Rochester Federated Church will sponsor its annual community flower show this Saturday, Sept. 9 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Harvest Fair on the park in Rochester village.

It is open to everyone—children, teens, adults, and experienced or new flower arrangers. Entries will not be judged, but are for the enjoyment of all.

Entry Categories

Fabulous Fall—look around at the autumnal shades of flowers in bloom—wildflowers as well as cultivated ones. Some early fall foliage or grasses will add interesting texture.

Shades of Summer—there may still be light or bright summer colors in your garden. Gather a bouquet or a single blossom and bring it to the show.

Harvest Home—celebrate the bounty of the harvest season by arranging a beautiful basket of vegetables and fruits. For another twist on this theme: create a fantasy creature using extra vegetables from your garden.

Tiny Treasures—try your hand at a miniature arrangement, no more than 4” tall. Look around for a small container and have fun arranging your dollhouse-sized bouquet.

Fairy Houses—using mainly natural materials from the woods and garden, construct a whimsical fairy house. Make it the right size for wee folk, and decorate it with what nature provides: flowers, fruits, grasses, bark, stones, twigs, and more.

Clever Containers—look around your home to see what inspires you, or find a unique container at a yard sale. Let your unusual container inspire your floral arrangement.

Arrangements may be dropped off at the bandstand on the Rochester Park between 9-10 a.m., and should be picked up between 4-4:30 p.m. For more information, call Dorothy Robson at 767-3732 or Priscilla Baker at 767-3084.
