Learn Composting Basics in Online Course

Communities / Aug. 10, 2017 11:33am EDT

For those interested in composting, but lacking the knowledge to do so effectively, the University of Vermont (UVM) Extension Master Gardener Office will be offering a six-week online course this fall on the basics of backyard composting.

The Vermont Master Composter course will run from September 26 through October 31, and has seven online modules, four of which include live interactive question-and-answer sessions. Participants will learn about the biology of composting, site and container selection, “recipes” to make compost, and how to manage the composting process.

Vermont residents who have completed the course will have the option of seeking certification as a UVM Extension Master Composter.

There is a fee; September 15 is the deadline to register. Go to www.uvm.edu/mastergardener for details and the registration link.

To request disability related accommodations, call 802-656-9562 by August. 29. For any additional questions, contact Lisa Chouinard at master.gardener@uvm.edu.
