Randolph Center— Donald R. Bettis, 64, died Wednesday night, Dec. 11, 2013 at his home, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

He was born January 10, 1949 in Randolph, the son of M. Grant and Ruth (Salter) Bettis. He graduated from Braintree-Ran­dolph Union High School in 1967. He had lived most of his life in the Randolph area, working in various warehouse management positions, including 15 years at Vermont Castings.

He married Kathy Trask on November 10, 2001 in Chesapeake, Va. They later settled in Hardwick, where they owned their own roofing business. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, hunting, skiing, NASCAR racing, and NHRA Drag Racing, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Bettis of Randolph Center; daughters, Tammy Jo Abel and husband, Robert of New Port Richie, Fla., and Jennifer Bettis and partner, John Kinnarney of Tunbridge; stepsons, Shane Niles of Randolph Center and Dana Niles of Walpole, Mass.; brothers, Gary Bettis of Jacksonville, N.C., and John Bettis of Virginia Beach, Va.; mother-inlaw, Jean Trask of Randolph Center; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews, and his extended NASCAR family.

A casual gathering of remembrance is scheduled Saturday, Dec. 21 from 1-3 p.m. at the Green Mountain Gospel Chapel on Route 66 in Randolph. A graveside service at Randolph Center Cemetery will be announced in the spring.
