Haven Howe

East Randolph—Haven Howe, 87, died Tuesday morning, July 28, 2009 at Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born September 19, 1921 in Bethel, the son of Rufus and Josephine (McCormack) Howe. He was raised in Tunbridge, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Bertha M. Kimball on March 3, 1947 in Bethel. They moved to Tunbridge in 1952 where they farmed, and continued farming after moving to East Randolph in 1965. She died in 1980.

He worked at Bethel Mills until retiring in 1978. He was a member of Bethany Church in Randolph, where he had served as custodian. He enjoyed hunting, watching baseball, and his dog “Blackie.”

Survivors include his son, John S. Howe of Randolph Center; daughter, Linda Fisk of South Burlington; and five grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brothers, John, Harry, Bernard, and Joseph Howe.

Calling hours were held Friday evening, July 31 at Day Funeral Home in Randolph. Graveside services at Randolph Center Cemetery in mid-August will be announced at a later date.
