SOUTH ROYALTON—Ralph E. Clark, age 99, died Tuesday, December 24, 2002 at the Menig Extended Care Facility at the Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.

He was born Oct. 18, 1903 in Waterbury, the son of Merritt and Jane (Davis) Clark. He attended school in Rochester Hollow in Rochester.

On Nov. 11, 1925 he married Marjorie Rogers of Royalton. They lived all their married life in Royalton on their Russ Hill Farm. She died Feb. 4, 1983.

He worked 30 years as a bridge superintendent for Bayer & Mongolla Construction Co. of Worcester, Mass. and retired in 1976.

He enjoyed gardening and grew many vegetables in the large gardens on his Russ Hill Farm. He loved to dance, clog, deer hunt, play the Jew’s harp for kitchen junkets and walks with beloved dog, Spike. He looked forward to visits from his family, friends, neighbors and especially younger children.

Survivors include five sons: Arnold R. Clark of Tunbridge; Richard V. Clark of Jacksonville, Fla.; Freeman E. Clark of Athol, Mass.; Theodore F. Clark of Corinth and Robert Clark of White River Jct.; three daughters: Lorraine Withington of Sharon; Maydene Lamson and Cheryl Perkins both of Royalton; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grand children; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by three sons: Maurice, Leonard and Lester Clark; one brother, Warren Clark; and two sisters, Esther Yauvey and Ethel Lurvey.

There will be no public calling hours. A graveside service will be held later in the spring at the Branch View Cemetery in South Royalton.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Royalton Area Senior Citizens, P.O. Box, South Royalton, Vt. 05068.
